Detailed syllabus
Part A — General Paper (40 marks)
- General Knowledge & Current Affairs — 10 marks.
Polity, environment, current affairs, science & technology, economy, history of India with focus on the Indian freedom struggle, sports, cinema and literature, geography. - Punjab History & Culture — 5 marks.
Physical features and ancient history; social, religious and economic life; language, literature and arts; Afghan/Mughal Punjab; Bhakti Movement; Sufism; Sikh Gurus and Saints; Adi Granth; Sikh Rulers; Punjab freedom movements.
- Logical Reasoning & Mental Ability — 10 marks.
Logical reasoning and analytical (5), basic numerical skills (3), data analysis and graphic presentation (2).
- Punjabi — 5 marks. Shudh-Ashudh, Shabd-Jod, prefix and suffix, synonyms and antonyms, noun/pronoun/verb classes and usage, gender and number, idioms, English-to-Punjabi translation, one-word substitution. -
English — 5 marks. Basic grammar, subject and verb, adjectives and adverbs, synonyms and antonyms, one-word substitution, fill-in-the-blanks, sentence correction, idioms, spell checks, articles, prepositions, direct/indirect speech, active/passive voice.
- ICT — 5 marks. Basics of computers, network and internet, MS Office productivity tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
